Full Description

Understand your personal wellness and cardiovascular disease risk by testing your blood’s omega-3 fatty acid content via the Omega-3 Index test – done at home! This test and testing company were developed by nutrition researcher Bill Harris, PhD.

Your Omega-3 Index measures the amount of EPA and DHA fatty acids in your blood; these are important for healthy blood vessels and easy flowing blood. If you are concerned with avoiding cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s eye degeneration, and other aging effects, you want to know your Omega 3 Index. An Omega-3 Index of 8-12% is considered optimal for great health.

You have 3 testing choices:

  • Omega-3 Basic – tests levels of EPA & DHA in your blood and gives you your Omega-3 Index Percentage
  • Omega-3 Plus – the Basic test plus important ratios:  7 selected omega-6s to 4 selected omega-3s, AA to EPA,  and trans fat to total fatty acids
  • Omega-3 Complete – the Plus test and the actual levels of 24 fatty acids in the blood including 4 monounsaturated fats and 6 saturated fats

My opinion is that the Omega-3 Complete test is the most useful tool when working to improve your diet, supplement regime, and overall health. The doctors who developed the Omega-3 Index recommend that you make changes slowly and wait 3-4 months after making lifestyle changes before you retest your levels.

About OmegaQuant Tests: These are tests done at home with blood spots that you make via finger pricks with a tiny lancet (included). You register the kit online, prick and send your card in, and the results are made available on your account. Easy peasy!
