Jojoba Oil – Cold-Pressed
Full Description
Jojoba is one of my 3 go-to oily substances for happy skin, scalp, and hair. Jojoba (ho-ho-ba) oil absorbs very quickly into skin, feels light, and has no scent. Jojoba is technically a wax not an oil due to its chemical makeup. It is closest to the type of oils that human skin naturally makes. Jojoba oil is gratefully accepted by all skin types. Jojoba has many excellent qualities:
- Non-allergenic so it will not aggravate easily irritated skin.
- Non-comedogenic so it will not clog your pores or contribute to acne.
- Anti-inflammatory and supportive of healthy liver function.
- Does not go rancid so it has a long, safe shelf life.
- Does not oxidize as long as the bottle is properly sealed.
- Liquid to temperatures as low as 45 degrees F (7.2 degrees C).
When I make a custom essential oil blend for topical application, I use jojoba oil. My homegrown Ayurvedic herbal oils use jojoba oil. When you use the right amount of oil, it absorbed into your skin quickly and does not get on your clothes or other laundry items.
The jojoba plant is a desert plant native to the southwestern USA and Mexico and grown other desert areas of the world.
Hobacare sources jojoba seeds from their own farms and offers first press oil focused on quality not price. Their oils are sold in containers made from either PET or HDPE depending on the size of the container. You might want to move your oil into glass containers – but remember how easily glass breaks if it drops on the bathroom or kitchen floor!
